I find it quite hard to work all time catch up with all the latest Linux games; and recently there seem to appear quite a few new...
Here are my personal favorite picks:
- Battle for Wesnoth: turn based strategy game with a fantasy theme, supports multiplayer
- Freeciv: turn-based strategy game inspired by Civilization; recently a online, browser-based version became also available, supports multiplayer
These games seem interesting as well but I can not recommend them yet since they are obviously not finished or I haven't played them enough
...
- Widelands: realtime strategy game modeled after Settlers; however, the AI mode is too weak and I haven't tried multiplayer yet
- 0 a.d.: realtime strategy game of ancient warfare
- Unknown Horizons: another realtime strategy game with an emphasis on economy and building; start with a settlement and improve by ship trading...
- Seven Kingdoms: sound interesting, but the Linux version is not there yet and only the game code is GPL, not the data files
As you might have guessed, I'm into the strategy genre...
